Suddenly it occurs to Malcolm that Brian or Tess may be drugging him with the intention of hurting him. When he gets close to someone he feels like they disappear. Brian leaves the room and Malcolm tells Tess he never really knows the truth of anyone but maybe that’s just him. In regard to Strangers on a Train he says you could never trust someone to commit a murder for you because you can never know what’s in another person’s heart. Discussing Malcolm’s list, Brian says there’s no such thing as a perfect murder. He couldn’t plan and commit actual murders. He thinks not: Brian doesn’t do much-drive, make travel arrangements, cook, do his taxes. Malcolm considers whether Brian could be Charlie. He notices that Brian has several bottles of the same brand of whiskey found next to Nicholas’ body. Brian tells him he wrote another, basically a rewrite of the same theme, that was never published. Before dinner Malcolm talks with Brian about one of his books he just reread, a violent revenge novel. He stops by the bookstore with a bottle of wine for Emily and Brandon to apologize for being away from work so much lately. Malcolm sets off for dinner with Brian and Tess.

Through her work as a coach exploring the narratives of hundreds of women, and after undergoing several life transitions herself - including motherhood - Melody discovered a common trend: in their quest to fuel their careers and relationships, women were increasingly sacrificing their authentic selves, happiness and well-being. She quickly established her reputation as a leader in the career development space. Melody started her career as a litigation attorney, but soon realized a disconnect between her work and essence, so she left a prestigious position at a top law firm to launch Write In Color, her personal branding and career development company. Facing downward, he could see a small leopard shark swim lazily past, a bit out of place here in the deeper water offshore. The occupant of the other waldo whale, lying half submerged a few meters away, had heard every word. One more time he checked the tiny indicators on his helmet display. The water lapped gently against the bulbous nose of his mechanical whale, as he waited for an answer. OUT OF THE WHALE-DREAM Makakai, are you ready?” Jacob ignored the tiny whirrings of motors and valves in his metal cocoon.
