![]() ![]() Suddenly it occurs to Malcolm that Brian or Tess may be drugging him with the intention of hurting him. When he gets close to someone he feels like they disappear. Brian leaves the room and Malcolm tells Tess he never really knows the truth of anyone but maybe that’s just him. In regard to Strangers on a Train he says you could never trust someone to commit a murder for you because you can never know what’s in another person’s heart. Discussing Malcolm’s list, Brian says there’s no such thing as a perfect murder. He couldn’t plan and commit actual murders. He thinks not: Brian doesn’t do much-drive, make travel arrangements, cook, do his taxes. Malcolm considers whether Brian could be Charlie. He notices that Brian has several bottles of the same brand of whiskey found next to Nicholas’ body. Brian tells him he wrote another, basically a rewrite of the same theme, that was never published. Before dinner Malcolm talks with Brian about one of his books he just reread, a violent revenge novel. He stops by the bookstore with a bottle of wine for Emily and Brandon to apologize for being away from work so much lately. ![]() Malcolm sets off for dinner with Brian and Tess. ![]()
